Provista Launched As a Marketer in Biofuels Industry

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- CHS Inc., one of the nation's leading energy and grain-based foods companies, and US BioEnergy Corporation, a producer and marketer of ethanol and distillers grains, today jointly introduced Provista, an ethanol and biodiesel marketing joint venture.

Provista was formed on March 31, 2006, when CHS acquired a 50 percent interest in US BioEnergy's ethanol marketing business. At the time Provista was formed, US BioEnergy entered into an ethanol marketing agreement with Provista.

"The name Provista captures our professional, proactive commitment to responding to change in the renewable fuels marketplace," said John Litterio, director of Renewable Fuels Wholesale Marketing for Provista. "Provista is proud to take a highly responsible, long-term view."

Provista expects to benefit from CHS' 75 years of respected performance, expertise, partnerships and service in the refined fuels industry and US BioEnergy's expertise in ethanol marketing. Provista has the ability to efficiently move large volumes of renewable fuels when and where they are needed. Provista will be marketing 450 million gallons of ethanol from seven plants at the end of 2006 -- with plans to grow to 800 million gallons over the next year -- and currently has 95 million gallons of biodiesel per year under contract.

"The Provista philosophy is simple: we aim to build trusting, collaborative relationships and provide logistical precision," said Litterio.

John Johnson, CHS president and chief executive officer, said, "CHS is pleased to be part of a dynamic organization that is already making great strides in the biofuels industry, has a clear strategic vision and is positioned for growth."

Gordon Ommen, chief executive officer of US BioEnergy stated, "Provista has a powerful infrastructure and agile team to effectively market and deliver biofuels to meet rapidly growing demand."

CHS has marketed ethanol-blended fuels for more than 25 years and currently is one of the nation's largest suppliers of blended fuel products, which it distributes through 64 terminals. US BioEnergy currently operates two ethanol plants, one of which is in the process of expansion, and has three additional ethanol plants under construction. Upon completion of these initiatives, US BioEnergy will own and operate five plants with combined expected ethanol production capacity of 400 million gallons per year.
